Two people have died in a crash this afternoon involving two tractor trailers that shutdown I-75, Cincinnati Police said.
A tractor trailer traveling southbound on I-75 lost control around 3:03 p.m. Friday near the 3.8 mile marker and crashed through the concrete barrier, traveling into the northbound lane. The southbound tractor trailer then collided nearly head-on with a tractor trailer traveling north.
According to police, the southbound tractor trailer caught fire because of the collision. The driver and the passenger of this trailer did not escape the vehicle and died at the scene, police stated.
The driver of the tractor trailer traveling north was treated by the Cincinnati Fire Department at the scene. No information on the condition of the northbound driver was reported.
I-75 will remain closed until Ohio Department of Transportation crews are able to repair the “extensive damage” to the concrete median, police said.
